This competition project has the dual objective of responding to the need to define the theme, to give optimal answers to the architecture of the civic center and the theater hall, and to redevelop the area by ensuring that it covers the civic meanings that are required. and that the urban quality of the city of Villacidro is significantly increased.
In the project we propose, the theater dictates, through its settlement principle, the ways and forms of relationship between the outside and the inside of the lot. Its architecture, the interpretation of the theme of the theater that has been given, “serves” the context, also thanks to the authority of the function that makes it an element of undoubted urban centrality.
The historic garden and now an urban park was designed starting from its architectural and environmental prerogatives. The essences and vegetation have been respected, preserving and re-proposing the planting, where appropriate and possible, and proposing new plantings in line with the natural context and with the place to complete the existing one. The terraces and the elevations have been revised in relation to the responses that the project gives to the requests for re-functionalization of the place and for a link with the theatrical machine.
